It’s finally here! A book which has been two years in the making is about to become available as ebook, and soon after paperback. This anthology consists of sixteen personal stories by people, from all walks of life, who have made the journey from a life steeped in religion to a life without it. I am proud to be one of the contributors whose stories are found in this book. I thank the editors, Tristan Vick and Jonathan MS Pearce, for making this book happen.
Please support this project by getting hold of a paperback copy in a week or so or an ebook version in the next couple days.
It’s already out in the UK: Beyond an Absence of Faith!

I had the honor and privilege of being a contributor to the upcoming book Beyond an Absence of Faith: Stories About the Loss of Faith and the Discovery of Self, edited by Tristan Vick and Jonathan MS Pierce. Tristan offers this introduction to the book:

"The anthology, Beyond an Absence of Faith, collects the personal ‘deconversion’ stories of ex-religious believers. A deconversion story of the irreligious is the equivalent of the religious ‘testimony’ of faith. Just as with a ‘testimony’ which is a personal account of how one came to God or found faith, the deconversion story is the opposite account of how one lost faith and realized all the God-business just wasn’t for them. What I like most about the book is that it’s not an attack on religion. It’s not a philosophical piece trying to deconstruct religion. It’s much more a reflective piece looking back on individual experiences collecting the personal stories from people from all walks of life who went from living a life steeped in religion to a life without it."

I’ll let you know how to get your hands on a copy of our book as soon as it comes out. Stay tuned!

I’m not much for memes, but this one is relevant.

I have friends who talk like this. Constantly riding the fence doesn’t make you more enlightened than those of us who have drawn conclusions and take a stand for what we think is right. Doesn’t make you more open-minded. Quite the opposite, in fact. When you always take the side of “not taking sides,” you never allow yourself to be challenged. It’s a way to shield yourself from criticism and any kind of testing of your views.
